Composing Common Worlds: Town Hall Gallery

On the weekend I went to the Town Hall Gallery to see the exhibition 'Composing Common Worlds' curated by Kent Wilson(an amazing artist, curator and writer). It was my first time to the gallery and I was blown away!! It was a great gallery with good lighting and space, there was also a nice gallery shop and most importantly a very exciting exhibition. Kent has put together an exhibition that I would expect in to see in a major galley or museum, exciting bold and beautifully presented. The exhibition runs from Tuesday 19 August to Sunday 12 October 2014.

This is what the exhibition is about:
Artists observe the world, translating what they see and feel into creative expression. In this way they filter our reality and provide new ways for us to understand our place in the world. But more than just interpreting, they actually re-make the known universe through their creative acts.

Composing Common Worlds brings together six artists from Victoria who explore the ways in which we understand the nature of our environment. Driven by ideas of the relationship between humans and nature, and questioning the very need for this division, these artists work through a variety of methods to articulate new ways of positioning ourselves within the world. Presenting multiple mediums from each artist the exhibition also offers a unique insight into the way artists generate material expressions of conceptual ideas.

The show features the following artists:
Sam LEACH
Juan FORD
Cameron ROBBINS
Stanislava PINCHUK (MISO)
Laura WOODWARD
Hanna TAI

Every week town hall gallery will be interviewing each of the artist in this exhibition so check out the webpage (click here) to read and find out more about the artist and their work.  Also there is an opportunity for artist to spend 2 weeks in the gallery next year as an artist in residence using the gallery space as their studio (plus its paid) (click here for more details).

Below are some images I took for the show and a video provided by Town Hall Gallery:
